Harmanpreet Kaur has extended her contract with the Lancashire Thunders for another year and will be looking to carry forward her form from the last season of the league. She became the fourth Indian player in the league after Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues and Deepti Sharma's signing.

Harmanpreet Kaur had a great season last time around, which was also her first in the tournament and ended the Super League’s third edition with 164 runs at a strike rate of 151.85, having scored multiple half-centuries for her team. However, her contributions were not enough to take her team to the finals.

"I am delighted to sign with Lancashire Thunder once again for the Kia Super League. I really enjoyed my first spell in Lancashire, everybody made me feel very welcome and I have some great friends in the dressing room, who I can't wait to play with again. It is a very talented squad and I know we will all be hungry to go one further this year, following the disappointment of narrowly missing out on Finals Day in 2018," Harmanpreet Kaur was reported saying by Cricbuzz.

The swashbuckling all-rounder has 1910 runs in 96 T20Is for the national team and has won the Arjuna Award for her service to the country in cricket in the past. Her compatriot Smriti Mandhana had a stellar season last year ending as the tournament’s high scorer with 421 runs while playing for Western Storm. On the other hand, Jemimah Rodrigues will also play in the league for Yorkshire Diamonds as the trio will look to dominate the league that commences from the sixth of August.

Alex Blackwell, the coach of the Lancashire outfit, welcomed back the India skipper to the tea and highlighted her importance to thee team’s game plans.

"Harmanpreet made a fantastic start last summer, holding her nerve in the final over to hit the winning runs at Surrey after joining up with the squad late," the Australian stated.

"She also played a great knock in our Roses victory against Yorkshire in Blackpool and I am certain that she will be determined to showcase even more of her skills this summer. It is great to have one of the world's leading T20 batters in our ranks once again,” Blackwell concluded on the matter.
