There are few forms of dismissals in Cricket that fascinate fans as much as a hit-wicket does. After Martin Guptill comically broke the wickets against the Proteas while following through with his shot, Imam-Ul-Haq has now followed him, breaking the stumps with his foot while playing a flick.
Pakistani opener Imam-Ul-Haq continued to put up mind-boggling numbers, notching up his seventh ODI century in just his 36th innings. While he gave Pakistani fans a moment to rejoice by bringing his seventh ODI century, he gave all the opposition fans a moment to chuckle as he broke the stumps with his back-foot while batting on 100.
In the fourth ball of the 33rd over, right after bringing up his century, Imam-Ul-Haq flicked a ball off his hips on the on-side, in what seemed like a regulation single. However, keeper Musfhiqur Rahim had spotted something strange and appealed to the square-leg umpire for a potential hit-wicket, and the umpire obliged.
To Imam's agony, replays showed that he had broken the stumps with his back foot while trying to flick the ball. However, despite knowing it, a stubborn Imam waited in the middle for the Third Umpire's decision before eventually walking off the field in disbelief, cursing himself on the way back, realizing the stupidity of what he had just done.
