After hitting five centuries in eight games, Rohit Sharma has closed the 51-point gap between Virat Kohli and himself to a mere six points, with the Indian vice-captain reaching a career-high 885 points. Babar Azam has moved up four places to third position, Faf du Plessis rose to fourth spot.

Rohit is having a stupendous World Cup for himself and his 647 runs so far in the tournament have come at an average of 92.42, with five hundreds in eight innings. That helped him close the gap with his skipper Kohli and as the duo now have a six-point difference from the earlier 51-point difference.

After the two Indian stalwarts, joined a Pakistani as Babar Azam displaced Ross Taylor from the third spot after his brilliant performance in the World Cup. Faf du Plessis followed him on the list as Taylor now sits on the fifth place. Meanwhile, Kane Williamson has moved up four spots to eighth place.

Quite remarkably, David Warner, after spending a year out of international cricket serving a ban for his role in the Newlands ball-tampering saga, has entered the rankings in sixth place. The New South Wales man has been in a very good run of form ever since his return and is the second-highest run-getter at the World Cup behind Rohit, with 638 runs at 79.75.

In bowler’s rankings, the top two remain unchanged, with Jasprit Bumrah's 17 World Cup wickets at 19.52 helping him extend his lead over the Trent Boult from 21 points to 58. Among others, Pat Cummins has jumped three places to No. 3, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman has jumped four places to No. 6. A below-par World Cup for Rashid Khan resulted in the leg-spinner slipping five places to No. 8.

Shakib Al Hasan, who is currently third among the World Cup's highest run-getters and has already secured 11 wickets at 36.27, remains the No. 1 allrounder in ODIs, while Ben Stokes climbed nine places to reach the third position.
