Yuvraj Singh has stated that he was not able to get comfortable at any of the multiple franchises he has played for in the cash-rich IPL to perform to his full potential. The two time champion went on to talk about his experience in the inaugural T20 World Cup and his famous six sixes.

Having retired from all forms of international cricket less than a month ago, Yuvraj Singh had stated that he’ll continue to participate in the various T20 leagues around the world while focusing on enjoying his cricket and performing without any pressure. However, he surprisingly revealed that he could never really settle down in any of the six IPL franchises he has played for in the league’s history. He has in the past represented Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, Kings XI Punjab, Pune Warriors, Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad, having won the title with the last two.

"I was never settled in whichever franchise I played for. I didn't really get settled where you are made to play for one franchise or maybe two," Yuvraj said, reported the Times of India.

In Kolkata to collect the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 91st annual general meeting of the Indian Chambers of Commerce, Yuvraj reminisced how he almost ended up playing for the city’s home team. RCB and Kolkata Knight Riders were involved in a highly intense bidding war and just when KKR seemed to have sealed the deal and the hammer was about to come down, RCB butt in with another bid and ended buying the left-arm batsman for 14 Cr. He ended up scoring 376 runs for them at an average of 34, the most he has for any time, while scoring three half centuries, another joint-highest for him for a certain franchise.

"I almost joined KKR but last moment (in the auctions), I went to RCB. I probably had my best IPL season with RCB. It was unfortunate not to come to KKR. I can't really complain about it. It was great working with all these teams. Being with Mumbai Indians and winning the championship, and also winning for Sunrisers was a great experience," said Yuvraj, who played four matches for Mumbai this season.

He first emerged as a T20 specialist in the 2007 T20 World Cup. He scored half centuries in five innings but more importantly the nearly 200 runs came at an astounding strike rate of 194.74. His six sixes to Stuart Broad against England has become a part of cricketing folklore and is synonymous to his name.

"The inaugural World Twenty in 2007 changed world cricket specially in T20. It was just my day. The fifth ball was a yorker and still I managed to hit that out of the park. It was my day," reminisced Yuvraj.

India ended up the competition as champions and surprised the world. Yuvraj Signh went on to become a national legend in the format, ending with 1177 international runs including eight 50s at a strike rate of 136.38.

"It was a phenomenal tournament, it took cricket to the next level. Absolutely nobody was expecting us to win it. We played fearless cricket. We had a new captain. We lost a few crucial games and had to win all three to get to the finals. We just went and expressed ourselves," he concluded.
