England have finally managed to live up to the expectations and made it to the finals after 27 long years. After a potential knockout threat, England have beaten best of the teams on a trot and are now looking in ominous form, which should infuse immense fear in the minds of opposition.
Openers
Jason Roy: Against an intimidating bowling attack of New Zealand, someone like Jason Roy can pose serious threat with his aggression up front. One thing is for certain, if Roy gets going the fate of the game will be decided in 15 overs itself.
Jonny Bairstow: After a hot and cold run in the tournament, Bairstow has found his zone and zen when it mattered the most and will look to give it all in the match that matters the most. Alongside Roy, Bairstow will be looking to get the team off to a solid start and wreak havoc against the new ball, the way they have been doing in the past.Ā
Middle-order
Joe Root: The backbone of the star-studded English line-up, Joe Root has been a serious threat in the top-order and has got the tough runs whenever England found themselves in trouble. He is a big match player and will hold the key to Englandās success in such a high-pressure game.Ā
Eoin Morgan: The English skipper has been brilliant with his captaincy so far and will be pleased to get some runs under his belt in the semi-final against India. He is a match-winner and if Morgan goes berserk, the Kiwi bowlers will certainly have a tough time in keeping him quiet.
Ben Stokes:Ā This English side is filled with match-winners and just need one player to click - Can it be Stokesā final? An effective all-rounder, Stokes is no less than a boon to any side and has been in great form of late, Should England find themselves in trouble, there is one man they can always rely one, and itās none other than Ben Stokes.
Jos Buttler: The wicket-keeper batsman was expected to have a phenomenal tournament. He may not have the numbers to back it up but has been effective more often than not. His manic batting makes him an asset to any side and if given a platform and Buttler can go all guns blazing and inflict unrepairable damage with his freakish batting.Ā
Bowlers
Chris Woakes: The all-rounder is having a dream run in the tournament and has shouldered the responsibility well. Against Australia, he showed the kind of threat he can pose once the ball starts swinging and has been more than handy with the bat. In the big match, the onus of getting early scalps will be on Woakes and itās unlikely that he would disappoint.Ā
Adil Rashid: Despite some trouble in his shoulders, Adil Rashid has bowled with immense confidence and repaid the faith with interest. His match-winning spell against Australia should infuse a lot of self-belief ahead of the final and one wouldnāt be wrong in saying that Rashid can pose a threat of a different kind against Kiwis.Ā
Liam Plunkett: He may not boast of express pace but his canny changes and ability to pick wickets earns him a spot in the line-up very often. His big-hitting abilities down the order have always been more than handy and Plunkett has fulfilled the role of a third seamer efficiently.
Jofra Archer: The big man needs no introduction! After getting England off to a dream start against Australia, he returned in the death overs to dismiss Glenn Maxwell when he looked extremely dangerous. All England need from Archer is one last match-winning spell in the game that matters the most.
Mark wood: Itās unlikely that England would tinker with their playing combination in the final and rightly so. Mark Wood got some movement in the previous game but struggled with control and erred in length. He bowled a brilliant spell against New Zealand a week ago in the group stage encounter, which should earn him a call in the ultimate game as well.
