Regardless of whether MS Dhoni announces his retirement from international cricket, a senior CSK official claimed that the Ranchi-born cricketer will definitely be part of the IPL next season. Post India’s WC exit, Virat Kohli denied any dressing room talk of Dhoni’s retirement from ODI cricket.

MS Dhoni has been one of the longest-serving cricketers in the Indian national team, having already guided the senior team to the inaugural 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup. However, the veteran wicket-keeper was expected to hang up his boots post the completion of India’s World Cup campaign in England & Wales.

While Dhoni’s international career in the limited-overs format remains a doubt, his tenure in the IPL remains far from over. The iconic former Indian captain has been participating in the IPL with pride for 10 seasons, which include eight seasons with Chennai Super Kings. Dhoni captained Rising Pune Supergiants for two seasons during which the Chennai-based were handed a ban for spot-fixing allegations.

“Whatever may be the speculation, he will play for us next year,” the CSK official told HT.

Reports in HT added that former India captain has not even confirmed his participation for India’s next tour to West Indies, for which Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah will surely be rested.

After India’s unfortunate exit against New Zealand in the first semi-final, Kohli had informed that there was no talks in the Indian dressing room regarding Dhoni’s retirement.
