England wouldnât have had any trouble winning had Jos Buttler stayed at the crease, believes Shoaib Akhtar

Shoaib Akhtar reckons that England would have comfortably won the ICC World Cup had England's Jos Buttler stayed at the crease in the second innings after the latter scored a fast-paced half century. In the end, Buttler and Ben Stokes did enough to win England their maiden World Cup.
The England cricket team managed to etch their names in the history books after they laid their hands on their first ever World Cup triumph at Lordâs on Sunday. They three lions looked in all sorts of trouble in the middle when Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler made their way to the middle. However, the two put up a strong partnership to get the hosts back into the match as the New Zealand pace attack kept pushing for a wicket. The Kiwis got their man when Buttler was dismissed off a Lockie Ferguson delivery, just after he scored a hard-fought half century.Â
In his Youtube channel, Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar reckons that things could have been much easier for the English side had wicket-keeper batsman Buttler stayed at the crease.Â
"If Jos Buttler would have stood his ground then there would have been no problem at all for England. If he would have stayed on the crease after scoring a boundary, there would have been no issue at all but yet again I think England deserved the win. Englandâs hard work in the last four years has helped them win the World Cup," Akhtar said in the video posted on Youtube.
Talking about the performance of New Zealand, the âRawalpindi speedsterâ added that although the team played well, it was unfortunate to lose itâs second World Cup final after previously missing out on the trophy in the 2015 edition of the competition.
