The BCCI has called for applications for all the positions in the current coaching and support staff structure after the contracts of the present personnel ended with the World Cupā€™s conclusion. The present staff will be allowed to re-apply for the post, July 30 being the deadline for the same.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has asked qualified personnel to apply for the posts of head coach, batting coach, bowling coach, fielding coach, physiotherapist, strength and conditioning coach, and administrative manager after a disappointing end to the teamā€™s World Cup campaign.

The contracts of the present members were supposed to run up till the end of the World Cup but they have been offered 45-day extensions to include the tour of West Indies comprising of three T20Is, as many ODIs and a couple of Tests. The first T20I is scheduled for August the third and the tour will run up till early September.

BCCI has stated that the present holders of the position will be given ā€œautomatic entry in the recruitment process.ā€ However, Patrick Farhart, the teamā€™s physiotherapist, as well as strength and conditioning coach Shankar Basu have decided not to accept the renewal and parted ways with the team.

Most of the coaching staff has been involved with the Men in Blue for quite some years now and it will be interesting to see whether they decide to put their names up for re-appointment. While Ravi Shastri first took up the role of head coach in mid-2014 along with batting coach Sanjay Bangar, bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar, Farhart and Basu had been included in the staff the very next year. The BCCI has stated the minimum qualification for the position of head coach as a BCCI Level 3 clearance or having represented the nation in at least 50 ODIs or 30 Tests.

The deadline for applications is 5 PM on July 30 and the elections are scheduledĀ to take place on October 22, which will also signal the dissolution of the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators.
