The Committee of Administrators (CoA) have issued a directive that BCCI secretary will no longer convene selection meetings and the chairpersons of the panel will head it. However, on the overseas tour, the administrative manager will take over the convener's role instead of selection chairman.

For the longest time in Indian cricket, BCCI's secretary used to convene and attend meetings of the selection committee but the CoA has directed the chairpersons of the respective selection committees to convene the meetings. The new directive will be followed in Indiaā€™s team selection for the Windies tour.Ā

Keeping that and various factors in mind, the meeting for the upcoming tour of the West Indies has been postponed. Earlier, it was scheduled to be held on Friday, but now the dates will be announced shortly.

As per the new BCCI constitution, however, there should be separate management and governance functions of the BCCI, with the Apex Council - which includes the secretary - responsible for governance, the professional management team led by the CEO responsible for the management of non-cricketing matters, and the cricket committees - including the selection committee - in charge of managing cricketing matters.Ā

"It is learnt that the selection committees continue to address emails to Hon. Secretary to seek his approval in relation to any change or replacement in the team(s). Similarly, the selection committees continue to address e-mails to the Hon. Secretary seeking his approval on travel arrangements and posting for selectors to watch and attend cricket matches."

So the new directive will work in the factor that the BCCI office bearers and the CEO will no longer attend any meetings of the cricket committees and that will be entirely taken care of by selection committee and ricket committees.
