On Friday, ODI cricket bid goodbye to one of the greatest fast bowlers of the 21st century in Lasith Malinga. However, Malinga made his final ODI a one to remember, as not only did he bowl his side to victory, but also showcased his unique and trademark trait - the toe-crushing, inswinging yorker.

When Cricket fans hear the word "yorker", they often associate it with Lasith Malinga. Such has been the impact of the Sri Lankan pacer who has terrorized batsmen over the course of the last 15 years with his vicious and venomous yorkers. Last week, he announced that the first ODI against Bangladesh would be his final one for Sri Lanka, and so fans had turned out in numbers in anticipation to see the veteran take the field in ODIs one last time.Ā

Defending 314, Malinga took the new-ball for one last time in ODI cricket, and came steaming in to bowl against the opposition skipper Tamil Iqbal. The swing on offer was evident on the third ball, as the ball swung well wide of Tamim's pads resulting in a wide, almost sending a signal to the batsmen to be wary of what was about to come.Ā

But it was the fifth ball of the first over that Sri Lankan fans and Cricket fans will remember for a very long time to come. Malinga, bowling over the wicket, charged in to bowl to Tamim and delivered a full-length ball, with the line starting around middle-stump. The batsmen Tamim, who had no idea what was going to unravel next, swung his bat trying to play the ball across the line, hoping to get some bat on the ball.Ā Ā

However, the ball, which started on middle-stump, swung back into Tamim venomously, catching him off-guard and rattling the leg-stumpĀ and leave him on his knees. Tamim walked back to the pavilion in disbelief, while Malinga, on the other hand,Ā signed off from ODI cricket in style, giving his fans a moment to cherish for years to come.Ā
