Catches win matches is a cliché that often stands true. A bowler does everything right to outfox a batsman and a dropped catch can only hamper his confidence and deny him a priceless wicket. Every time a catch is dropped, fans do get furious and utter the three magical words – catches win matches.

Bangladesh batting clicked to post a massive total of 330 for the South Africans to chase. By the end of 33rd over, South Africa looked on track with David Miller and van der Dussen anchoring the run-chase. Miller had bid enough time on the field and was all set to let loose in order to garner some brisk runs. It was that phase of the match, where the Proteas had to accelerate and keep up with the asking rate.

On the third delivery of the 34th over, Miller cut a short ball from Mustafizur Rahman towards third man region, but didn’t have the legs to cross the boundary line. Mahmudullah, usuallay a safe fielder, misjudged the ball terribly and eventually dropped it. It was a crucial juncture in the game and a wicket here would have put Bangladesh in command, which fans were aware of and starting booing the fielder.

Mahmudullah turned towards the stands and asked the mocking crowd to keep quiet. The dropped catch didn’t hurt Bangladesh as they went on to win the game by a fair margin.
