Bhuvneshwar Kumar suffered a mistimed injury while bowling in the high-voltage encounter against Pakistan and won’t be bowling in the entire game. The extent of the injury is still unknown as India find themselves in a tricky situation with the pacer having bowled just 16 deliveries of his quota.
India suffered a huge blow as their specialist fast bowler Bhuvneshwar has reported tightness in his left hamstring and is not fit to bowl in this encounter. He suffered the injury during the fifth over, where he pulled out after bowling the fourth ball and sought some medical attention immediately.
With the pacer off the field, Vijay Shankar finished off the over and also managed to draw early blood in the form of Imam-Ul-Haq on the very first ball he bowled. Bhuvneshwar is still being assessed and the extent of the injury is still unknown.
With the availability of Shankar and Kedar Jadhav, India shouldn’t have much of a problem in finishing off the overs but won’t be having a similar impact. India are defending 337 in 50 overs and might face problems if Pakistan manage to dig deep as Bhuvneshwar was also their death overs specialist. If Bhuvneshwar fails to recover before India’s next assignment, he would undoubtedly be replaced by Mohamed Shami, who has been warming the benches in four games so far.
