VIDEO | MS Dhoni’s unassuredness triumphs Virat Kohli’s confident 'Out Hai' in close review

MS Dhoni’s assuredness behind the stumps has been one of India’s biggest strengths and there’s a reason why it is so. Today, while Virat Kohli confidently came forward for a probable stumping celebration, Dhoni kept his calm and shared his unsureness despite standing close to the stumps.

On the second delivery of the 20th over, Kuldeep Yadav spun a delivery away from Fakhar Zaman against which the southpaw looked completely clueless. The ball sniffed past his bat and his trigger movement on the delivery resulted in Kuldeep catching him off guard. By the time Zaman realised that he was out of the crease, the white cherry had already reached the safe hands of MS Dhoni and a stumping looked on the cards.

However, Dhoni, who has made the unusual habit of collecting the ball on the full and not go with the traditional notion of wicket-keeping, found it hard to collect it near the stump. The little reaction time allowed Zaman drag his backfoot inside the crease in time as the former Indian skipper distrubed the furniture and appealed for a wicket.

To confirm things, the umpire instantly went upstairs to check weather Zaman had managed to drag his foot back in time or not, but then Kohli and Dhoni met in the middle. While Dhoni signalled that he was unsure about the dismissal, Kohli, despite being in the outfield, came forward and made everyone believe that it was out.

The third umpire, carefully checking the replay, found out that a portion of Zaman’s foot was inside the crease and it was sufficient for him to give his verdict. But one wonders, how did Kohli become so confident when even Dhoni wasn’t?
