India vs Pakistan | It was “dream delivery” that dismissed Babar Azam, believes Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav has called the delivery that bowled over Babar Azam, and laid the foundation for the Pakistan collapse, was a dream delivery. After losing Imam Ul-Haq early, Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman stitched together a 104-run stand bringing Pakistan back into the game before Kuldeep’s strike.

Chasing a target of 337 against India, Pakistan got off to a horrible start losing Imam-ul-Haq as early as the fifth over with just 13 runs on the board. The incoming Azam, along with Zaman, managed to steady the ship and guide Pakistan past the 100-run mark and give them a chance in the run chase. Just when it looked like the two were about to accelerate, Kuldeep, like he has done over the last year or so, provided India with the breakthrough with a ball that every leg spinner “dreams” of bowling.

"Both Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman play spin well. They were rotating the strike and were attacking, so it was important to break that partnership. It's a proper dream delivery and a proper Test delivery. Deceiving the batsman in the air and making him commit the mistake. A perfect delivery," Kuldeep told reporters after the game, reported AFP.

Coming into the tournament on the back of an ordinary IPL season, Kuldeep Yadav appeared to be under some scrutiny despite his performances over the last couple of years. His ordinary bowling against South Africa, and Australia didn’t help his cause either but the talented leggie turned it around in spectacular fashion against India’s arch rivals.

"Everyone is talking about my rhythm. I don't think I lost my rhythm. It happens when you don't pick wickets but the last three games I have bowled really well. In the game against Australia they were struggling to hit me and that's important for any spinner," Kuldeep added.

Rohit Sharma, who was adjudged man of the match for his 140 in the first innings,  did not hold back in his praise for the talented youngster.

"He's our match-winning bowler in that middle over phase, and today also you saw how important those crucial wickets were," Rohit said.
