Australia’s swashbuckling all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has stated that facing English quicks in their upcoming encounter on Tuesday is a challenge his side is up for. Jofra Archer and Mark Wood have bowled extremely well, especially the former, picking early wickets with the new ball.

One of the most-awaited encounters between Australia and England in the ongoing World Cup is all set to take place on Tuesday and the anticipation for the same is on a high. With the inclusion of Jofra Archer, England’s pace attack has sported an intimidating look. Glenn Maxwell has stated that Australia are used to pace bowlers and are up for the challenge English bowlers will pose during the high-voltage encounter.

“I think they’ll be more excited by that (Archer and Wood’s speed) than someone bowling 120s (kph, 74 mph). That sort of pace suits our batting line-up a bit more — a bit more pace on the ball and something we’re a bit more used to. It’s a challenge we’re up for,” he added. “We certainly get enough practice in the nets, that’s for sure,” Maxwell said, reported AFP.

David Warner smashed a scintillating ton and also became the first cricketer to have two 150 plus scores in the World Cup. His knock helped Australia register a convincing win over Bangladesh and acquire the top spot.

“For us it’s about going out there and doing the best we can. And whether or not we’re batting slow or fast, I think you’re going to get some form of criticism somewhere. But I felt the way we batted today (Thursday), we tried to take it as deep as we did and we ended up getting 380. That’s just the way we’re playing at the moment and we can only adapt to the conditions that are in front of us,” Warner said.
