According to the Indian Express, BCCI ethics officer Justice D. K. Jain has asked the former Indian stars to choose between their IPL roles and TV commentary. Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and around 20 other former Indian cricketers have taken up TV duties at the ICC World Cup 2019 in England.

Former star Indian cricketers are flooding the commentary box and interviews during the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 in England and Wales. But, BCCI ethics officer, Justice Jain isn’t too pleased with the proceedings. The BCCI had appointed the former Supreme Court Justice from 2006-2013 as ethics officer earlier this year and the Indian Express reported that in an order passed on an internal conflict-of-interest complaint, Jain has raised questions over the roles of stars like Tendulkar, Ganguly, VVS Laxman and Harbhajan Singh as commentators for the World Cup in England and Wales.

While former captain Ganguly is the mentor for Delhi Capitals in the IPL, Cricket Advisory Committee member, Star Sports commentator and Cricket Association of Bengal chief, Tendulkar and Laxman are mentors for the Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad respectively as well as Cricket Advisory Committee members. Harbhajan Singh, on the other hand, is still an active cricketer playing for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.

By holding multiple positions, Jain ruled that these cricketers were acting in direct violation of the recommendations on conflict-of-interest of the Lodha panel, appointed by the Supreme Court.
