Shakib Al Hasan believes that the Bangladesh side would need to be at their very best to stand a chance of beating India when the two sides will meet each other on July 2nd at Edgbaston. Shakib also labelled the Virat Kohli's men as one of the title contenders to win the World Cup.

After his side's thumping 62-run victory against Afghanistan on Monday, Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan believes that his side would need to be at their very best when they take on team India in what would be Bangladesh's penultimateĀ leagueĀ match of the World Cup. Shakib starred with both bat and ball for the Tigers against Afghanistan, keeping alive their hopes of making the semi-final. Bangladesh moved to the fifth spot on the points table with seven points after their victory on Monday but the road doesn't get any easier for them. After a six-day break, Bangladesh will travel to Edgbaston where they will take on India on July 2, and will take Pakistan on in their last match of the group stages at the Lord's on July 5.

"We have a very important game coming against India. They are a top side, one of the title contenders. It's not going to be easy but having said that we'll give our best shot, said Shakib during the post-match press conference, reported India Today.

Shakib also said that India possess players who can win matches single-handedly, but firmly believes thatĀ his sideĀ is capable enough to take down the 2011 Champions.Ā

"They got world class players who can win matches single-handedly. We have to be at our best. I believe as a team, we are capable enough.", said Shakib.

Shakib, on Monday, became only the second player in history after Yuvraj Singh to score a fifty and pick up a five-wicket haul in a World Cup match. The Bangladeshi ace also tops the run charts of the Cricket World Cup 2019, having scored 476 runs in six innings after his 51 against Afghanistan.
