Shakib Al Hasan, who starred with a five-wicket haul and a half-century, has revealed that he is overjoyed with how the ongoing World Cup campaign has panned out for him on a personal level. Shakib is the highest run-getter in the tournament thus far with a total tally of 476 runs from six games.

The Bangladesh cricket team find themselves in a tricky situation as they have a total tally of seven points from seven games and sit in the fifth position behind hosts England. Mashrafe Mortaza & Co. have put in some impressive displays over the course of the tournament including wins against South Africa and West Indies and a narrow two-wicket loss to New Zealand.

Undoubtedly, all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been the standout performer from the Bangladesh squad. The talented left-hander has a tally of 476 runs from six games thus far scoring at an average of 95.20 while batting at number three. The SRH player was at it again yesterday against Afghanistan where he scored 51 runs and also picked up a fifer to earn his side all two points.

"Five wickets obviously was special. Look we are that type of spinners who, in our country as well, need some help. I think today's wicket had the most help. It was needed and it was important from my perspective and from team's. Luckily I have been doing this and very happy with the way this tournament is going so far.

"I did prepare well but I never felt that I have a point to prove. I did everything I could do before the World Cup started for my preparation. It has been helping me a lot. I don't rank my performance at all, but it is satisfying when I am contributing with both bat and ball. It gives me more satisfaction than contributing in just one sector," Shakib was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

However, the former KKR cricketer squashed rumors that Bangladesh are a one-man army, as he added that a combined team effort will be required if they intend to go far in the tournament.

"No, its not that [we are one-man army]. If you see today's match, Mushfiq's innings, Riad's contribution, Tamim's contribution and also Mosaddek's contribution. These contributions are very necessary to build an innings like this, on this type of wicket specially, these contributions are very important. Maybe I am playing extremely well now, but without these contributions, the team wont be able to achieve this type of results. Same thing goes to bowling also, if you see Mustafiz and Saifuddin, may be they both got 9-10 wickets in this World Cup. So, I think it's a big achievement," Shakib added.
