Having been compared with MS Dhoni, Jos Butler had a golden chance to stump Usman Khawaja in the high-voltage encounter between England and Australia. However, Buttler failed to judge the height and the spin on the googly correctly, ending up taking off the bails without collecting the ball.

Considered as one of the worldā€™s best wicketkeeper batsmen, Jos Buttler goofed up a chance on Tuesday against title contenders Australia to get Usman Khawaja out. Incidentally, the event occurred only a couple of days after Australian head coach Justin Langer had labelled Buttler as Dhoniā€™s successor in world cricket, who himself is known for his unparalleled lightning stumpings.Ā

Having come in just a few overs ago and still trying to find his feet, leg spinner Adil Rashid flighted a delightful googly to Usman Khawaja. Tempted by the opportunity, he leant forward and dragged his back foot with him ahead of the crease to push the ball away. However, he completely misjudged the direction of spin as the ball went straight through to the keeper.Ā

Buttler though looked alarmed as the ball approached him and was too late with his reactions, sweeping his hand to take out the wickets without actually having the ball in his hands. For a world class keeper of his standards, one would imagine such a stumping would be a fairly standard one but it was not to be for him this time around. Rashid could not do much but smile and move on to bowl the next delivery.
