VVS Laxman has stated that MS Dhoni’s presence in the Indian dressing room is bound to boost the team morale thanks to the latter’s incredible experience. The former Indian batsman has also added that Virat Kohli’s captaincy has been proactive but he has not given his 100% with the bat so far.

While the way MS Dhoni started his batting against the Windies invoked a lot of criticism on Twitter, his ending made a lot of people take the innings as a mature one. Considering India didn’t have any batsman left, the time needed him to stay out there in the middle before launching a final assault. It was the game awareness shown at the moment that resulted in India reaching a respectable total and Laxman applauded that in no uncertain words.

"He (Dhoni) is the most experienced player and he always had the game-awareness. Dhoni is a kind of player who shares his knowledge with the youngsters. Not only batsmen, but bowlers also get benefit from Dhoni when they have a conversation. I think team India is very lucky to have MS Dhoni in the dressing room," Laxman was quoted as saying by the Times of India.

India are having a brilliant run in this World Cup, and despite a few batting hiccups, they are still unbeaten in the tournament so far, win five wins from six games, with one game being a washout. In the run so far, Virat Kohli scored four consecutive half-centuries and Laxman believes that the Indian skipper has fired with only 70% of his potential.

"It is very important that you give importance to each game and you cannot think very far ahead. But the way Virat Kohli has done captaincy, it was proactive captaincy. And the confidence he has shown in his bowlers, it is good to see. I still think he is playing at 70 percent of his potential and can play even better. But despite playing at his 70 percent potential, the way India is managing to have convincing back-to-back wins, it is good to watch," he said.
