It was one of those days for MS Dhoni where he did everything he could behind the stumps to keep India in the run-chase. However, in between those stupendous efforts, he donned the 'umpiring hat' to gesture that Glenn Maxwell was not out despite the umpire going upstairs to check the replay.

India had already got the first-hand experience of what Glenn Maxwell could do once he gets into the groove and in Nagpur, they seem determined to not let the grip go loose which might have allowed him the initiative. The tight line strangulation created a lot of problems for the Victorian as he tried to go down the track to score runs against spinners.

On the penultimate ball of the 27th over, Kuldeep Yadav fired in a wrong’ un and Maxwell was beaten by the angle to allow the ball to go into MS Dhoni’s hands. Dhoni was alert behind the stumps and seeing Maxwell’s down the track charge, he instantly disturbed the furniture in the hopes of finding Maxwell with his backfoot still in the air.

While Dhoni raised his hand in the air to appeal, he quickly realized that Maxwell was safe. The umpire, though, was not as sure and decided to go upstairs to be sure. The TV replay attested to Dhoni’s reaction as Maxwell, who had taken his foot off the surface only for a fraction of a second, had placed it safely when Dhoni took the bails off.
