Virat Kohli is constantly looking for areas for improvement, reveals Sanjay Bangar
Sanjay Bangar has claimed that in-form Indian captain Virat Kohli is successful more often than not because he is constantly on the lookout for areas of improvement in his game. Kohli scored a brilliant 123 off 95 deliveries as India succumbed to their first loss in the ODI series against Australia.
Indian fans were left heartbroken as the home team fell to a 32-run loss at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi on Friday at the hands of Aaron Finch & Co. The hosts looked to be on their way to a win after Indian captain, Virat Kohli, registered his second consecutive century in the ongoing five-match ODI series against Australia. However, after Kohli’s dismissal by Adam Zampa, the rest of the Indian batting line-up crumbled under pressure and were bowled out for 281 to reduce their series lead to 2-1.Â
One of the positive aspects of last night’s loss was the continued dominance of Kohli with the bat. Indian batting coach, Sanjay Bangar, reckons that Indian skipper registered his 41st ODI century because he is constantly on the lookout for areas of improvement in his overall game.
"It's not that we are over-reliant on one particular individual. However, the level that Virat has raised his game to, the performances of other players don't seem to be that special.
"He's somebody who constantly looks out on an area for improvement and he does that on a regular basis. Probably that's the reason why he has raised the game to such a level. The constant quest for excellence that Virat possesses is a phenomenal
Bangar revealed that Kohli’s knack for chasing down big targets was one of the reasons that the home team opted to bowl first in Ranchi last night.
