Hardik Pandya, who is not a part of the current Indian side because of an injury, has joined the pre-tournament camp of his IPL team Mumbai Indians. The team started its practice on Tuesday at the Reliance Corporate Park Cricket Ground, Ghansoli ahead of the 12th edition of the cash-rich league.

After being ruled out of the Indian team in the ongoing series against Australia because of lower back stiffness, Hardik has started training for the IPL now. The all-rounder has been a key member of the Mumbai Indians set up for a long time now and will have some responsibility as a senior player in the upcoming 12th edition which will begin from March 23.

A senior franchise official has clarified to PTI that Hardik and India’s T20 specialist and his elder brother Krunal Pandya have joined the MI camp at the Reliance Corporate Park cricket ground at Ghansoli. The official revealed that Hardik did “strength endurance training” on the first day of the session.

Apart from the Pandya brothers, off-spinner Jayant Yadav, leg-spinner Rahul Chahar, pacer Barinder Sran, Rasikh Salam, Mitchell McClenaghan and wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan were also a part of the training session on the opening day.

The squad will continue the training sessions at New Mumbai till March 17 when they will move to the Wankhede Stadium, the home venue of Mumbai Indians. The Rohit Sharma-led side will play its opening game at home against Delhi Capitals on March 24.
