Recent reports have suggested that India coach, Ravi Shastri, along with the rest of the coaching staff are likely to be handed a contract extension till November 2020. The contracts of Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun, batting coach Sanjay Bangar and fielding coach R Sridhar will expire in July.

Ravi Shastri has guided the Indian team to achieve some big results both home & away ever since his appointment as India coach back in July 2017.  Shastri has played an important role in guiding Virat Kohli & Co. to number one spot in Test rankings and number two in ODI rankings since taking charge from predecessor Anil Kumble.

A recent report in Mumbai Mirror daily tabloid, the contract extension of Indian team's support staff is reportedly going to be one of the main topics of discussion when the Committee of Administrators (CoA) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) CEO Rahul Johri meet in Mumbai on Monday.

Further reports stated that Supreme Court-appointed CoA have lined up a host of important issues related to Indian cricket to be discussed. The contracts of Shastri, Bharat Arun, Sanjay Bangar, and R Sridhar are set to expire in July towards the latter half the 2019 ICC ODI World Cup. The CoA is reportedly eager to offer the coaches a thoroughly deserved extension till November 2020. The Indian team's requirements like travel and accommodations for the 2019 World Cup will also be discussed in the meeting.

Team India began the 2019 season with a historic Test and ODI series victory in Australia before winning a tough ODI series in New Zealand. Last year, Rohit Sharma-led India claimed the Asia Cup 2018 and also thumped West Indies at home in Test, ODI and T20I series.

The contract extension can be announced after the meeting today. The extension will be till the T20I World Cup in 2020 - which will be staged from October 18 to November 15. Reportedly, Shastri has already had a word with Johri about his plan for the 2020 T20I World Cup.
