After he was adjudged the Man of the Match for his excellent bowling against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Harbhajan Singh has expressed that he is glad to contribute in the win for the Chennai Super Kings. The off-spinner scalped three wickets in his four overs to help CSK bowl RCB out for only 70.

Harbhajan and Chennai had a great day at the office to start the 12th edition of the league on a higher note against the Bengaluru-based team. Harbhajan played a crucial role, with all his experience, in the first game of the tournament to make a stunning comeback in competitive cricket. The Punjab bowler conceded only 20 runs in his four overs and got rid of three dangerous batsmen – Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Moeen Ali. He was complemented well by Imran Tahir and Ravindra Jadeja as the home team bowled Bangalore out for only 70 runs inside 18 overs.

"It is nice to be on the winning side and contributing, especially taking the wickets of Virat (Kohli) AB (de Villiers) and Moeen (Ali). This is the kind of performance that is expected from me, being the senior bowler in the side. Though people might think that I am old but the experience is something I have gained over the years, which no one can take away from me. I am glad to contribute to the win," Harbhajan said during the post-match press conference, reported Sportstar.

"It was a wicket where it was holding a bit. We honestly didn't expect it to turn so much as it did today. We played a practice match here and the wicket was a good one. We would have loved to play on a wicket that wouldn't spin as much as this did.”

The spinner was introduced into the bowling attack as early as in the second over by skipper MS Dhoni. He is of the opinion that he will get more chances to bowl after his performance in the first game which gave the defending champions a great start in the tournament.

"It is nice to get wickets under your belt. Last year, I played a few games, bowled few overs, went for runs and didn't get to bowl later. It is good to get a game like today and get wickets. It gives a lot of confidence for players like me who don't play a lot of cricket and spend time with my daughter and family. Hopefully from here I get to bowl a little more than what I have got. I am ready to bowl six or even 20 overs whenever the team needs me," the Punjab cricket explained.
