It is never surprising to see Pakistan batsmen not utilising the game sense and if anyone needed any validation of sorts, Asif Ali gave one in a true Pakistan fashion. Even though, Chris Jordan’s missed catch resulted in ball losing the momentum, but Ali ran forward, only to be ran out by Jordan.

In the only T20I against Pakistan, England were missing most of their first choice T20 batting line-up, with the likes of Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes rested after their IPL stints, but the inclusion of Jofra Archer kept the water hot. In between that, there were few moments of outrageous unorthodoxy by fellow pacer Chris Jordan that made the game all the more interesting.

On the fourth ball of the 17th over, which was a straight ball to Imad Wasim, Jordan managed to produce some high-quality athleticism on that one delivery. Imad, unsure of the angle the ball was coming to him, played straight back to Jordan and there was an opportunity for the Somerset player to take a one-handed stunner. Although Jordan tried his best, he couldn’t get hold of the catch, and the ball fell just a few yards away from him.

Asif Ali was seeing this in front of him and should’ve immediately returned back to the crease. Instead, the Pakistani batsman was caught in two minds and even though the ball was just behind Jordan, he was still in a forward march. The Windies-born pacer instantly turned and gathered off the ground to find Ali backing up well out of his crease and hit the stumps directly.
