Michael Vaughan has stated that the Indian team still has time to include Rishabh Pant in the Indian squad for the upcoming World Cup in England and Wales, starting May 30. India’s 15-man squad was announced on April 15 and the decision to exclude Rishabh Pant received a mixed response.

In the Eliminator encounter of the Indian Premier League between SRH and DC, Rishabh Pant was awarded the Man of the Match trophy for his phenomenal knock of 49 runs in 21 balls. Pant's mind-boggling cameo helped DC to romp home with another victory and secure a spot in the second qualifier. This once again raised the discussion around the Delhi batsman’s omission from India’s World Cup squad and the former England captain Michael Vaughan jumped in. The 44-year-old reiterated his support for Pant through a tweet from his official handle.

“How is Rishabh Pant not in the World Cup squad! Pretty sure India still have time to change !!!!! #Bonkers #IPL19,” he tweeted.

Experienced batsman Dinesh Karthik was chosen over Pant for the second wicket-keeper’s slot for the quadrennial event. The Kolkata Knight Riders skipper has been pretty inconsistent in this season of the cash rich league as he has only notched up 253 runs in 14 games. Pant, who has been named as a standby option, has amassed 450 runs in 15 games.
