After Mumbai Indians won the IPL 2019 final on Sunday, Sachin Tendulkar has stated that MS Dhoni getting run-out was a key moment in the game. Tendulkar has also added that the Mumbai franchise have a good blend of youth and experience in the side which has helped them to win the title.

Chasing a target of 150 in 20 overs, Chennai Super Kings were in some trouble while their skipper MS Dhoni had just joined set batsman Shane Watson in the middle. With the scorecard reading 73/3, Dhoni would have loved to spend some time with the Aussie at the other end and stitch a partnership. However, while attempting a run off an overthrow, Ishan Kishan hit the stump at the non-striker’s end which brought an end to MSD’s innings.

As CSK were defeated by a run in the end and MI were crowned as the champions for a record fourth time, and Sachin Tendulkar said that Dhoni run-out was a key moment in the final.

“The key moment was to get Dhoni run-out. Also, in patches when Bumrah came and bowled those critical overs, especially after Malinga gave that expensive over. Even after that Krunal over that went for a lot of runs, Bumrah came in very hard. I think Malinga finished off really well, that was a beautiful over to finish off,” Tendulkar said after the match, reported Cricbuzz.

The Rohit Sharma-led side had put up a good show with the ball after they ended up with only 149 in 20 overs while batting first. Kieron Pollard stared with the bat for them before Rahul Chahar and Jasprit Bumrah dominated the proceedings with the ball in the second half of the match. Lasith Malinga also had a great day towards the end as he finally managed to stop the Super Kings from scoring nine off the final over.

Speaking about the performance of the Mumbai franchise, the Master Blaster mentioned that they have a good blend of youth and experience in their squad.

“The couple of finals that we have played here, we have finished it really well even defending a total like 120-odd. We have got a terrific team - (a blend of) experience and youth. Rahul Chahar stands out - I shared my opinion before he played his first game and I thought he was fabulous,” the MI team icon explained.

“Sixth to the 15th over he bowled with a slip there and that was some real quality bowling in a crucial match. I think the spinners have done extremely well, and not to mention Hardik Pandya playing some critical knocks for us over the course of the tournament.”
