Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani has said that she didn’t watch the last over, especially the last ball where her side picked a wicket to end up on the winning side. The nerve-wracking game went down the wire as Lasith Malinga last-ball wonder helped MI clinch their fourth IPL title.

There couldn’t have been a better finish to conclude the IPL final. Both MI and CSK have won the title on three occasions apiece and have been the two consistent sides in the tournament.

MI posted a modest target of 150 and needed a stellar bowling performance to defend it. The match was swinging from one end to another constantly, and it was anyone’s game till the last delivery. MI had nine runs to defend in the final over and the thrill was on another level.

MI owner Nita Ambani was present at the venue and said that she didn’t watch the final over, especially the last delivery. “The last over, definitely not. And definitely not the last ball. I was just going by the cheers of the fans to know what’s happening,” Nita Ambani was quoted saying after the game.

MI have lifted the trophy four times in last seven editions and all the wins came under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy. Ambani heaped praise on Rohit’s captain and said, “All the times Rohit has been the captain in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019. Congratulations for leading our team so beautifully,”

Akash Ambani also lauded Lasith Malinga’s brilliance in the final over and said that the Sri Lankan bowler is a special member in the team.

“That’s Lasith Malinga for you. He’s the only bowler to have done it for 10-12 years now. He’s a special man in our team. I was just praying just a wicket off the last and nothing else,” Akash said.
