Jonny Bairstow has stated that a player learns various things from different people in the Indian Premier League. The England batsman played his first ever IPL this season, and had formed a formidable opening partnership combination with David Warner for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Jonny Bairstow was picked up for just Rs.2.2 crores by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2019 auctions of the Indian Premier League. The buy turned out to be a steal as the wicket-keeper batsman blasted 445 runs at a strike rate of 157.24 in ten innings before departing to England for national duty. He feels that he learnt a lot of things from the cash rich league.

“You’re able to learn different things from different coaches and different players. It’s just little things like game plans,” he said after his match-winning knock of 128 runs in just 93 balls while chasing 359 in the second ODI against Pakistan, reported AFP.

Australian David Warner was Bairstow’s opening partner and the duo had wreaked havoc on the opponents, as they blasted 791 runs in 482 deliveries from ten innings together. Both of them are aggressive batsmen but their techniques are in stark contrast to each other, as pointed out by the Yorkshire batsman.

“He (Warner) hits in completely different areas to potentially myself. I guess it’s method more than anything else,” explained the 29-year-old.

“But learning from them, as well as the guys here, that can only be a good thing playing under pressure with expectation,” he added.
