After a lot of controversy regarding the conflict of interest charges, the Committee of Administrators have prepared the terms of reference for the three-member Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC). However, that will be only valid until October 22, the date that has been set for the BCCI elections.

When MPCA life member Sanjeev Gupta lodged a complaint against Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman following a case by few Bengal residents against Sourav Ganguly, BCCI Ombudsman DK Jain asked the trio to deposit in person and although the trio duly followed the order, the eventual decision is yet to see the light of the day. In light of that, both Laxman and Tendulkar stated that they didn’t have any clarity from the BCCI or the CoA regarding their modus operandi and informed the ombudsman for the same.

Keeping that in light, the CoA is finally ready with the terms of reference for the CAC, which will be provided to them after the BCCI Ethics Officer DK Jain announces the verdict in the Conflict of Interest case.

"The terms of reference is ready. Once Justice Jain gives his verdict, the three-member CAC will have it in writing. The Committee obviously will continue till BCCI AGM," a senior BCCI functionary told PTI.

As a matter of fact, Tendulkar had asked the BCCI about the terms of reference from the time the committee came into effect in 2015, but he never received the same from the BCCI. Even when the BCCI’s elected body was abolished and CoA took over the functioning of the BCCI, it didn’t make any difference.

"I think when Anurag Thakur became the president, Sachin had sought clarification on his terms of reference. Now it's two years of CoA and this mess happens. If he feels let down, you can't blame Sachin. But let's hope that all the confusion is cleared very soon," the official said.
