Chairman of the Mumbai Cricket Associationā€™s (MCA) ad-hoc selection panel, Milind Rege has revealed that opening batsman Prithvi Shaw might return to the Mumbai squad in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. However, Shaw won't be eligible to play the first six group games for Mumbai.

Earlier this year the prodigy from Mumbai was suspended by the BCCI due to an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) as the teen had inadvertently taken Terbutaline to treat a throat infection.

Having served his eight-month suspension for a doping violation, 19-year-old Shaw will be eligible to play from November 16. According to Milind Rege, Shaw's selection in the domestic T20 tournament will certainly be discussed.

"He will be free to play from [November 16], so of course he will be considered for selection. I can't make any commitment to whether he will be back, but we will certainly discuss his selection," Rege was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.

The MCA had announced the squad for of Mumbai the first three fixtures only since key players like Shreyas Iyer, Shardul Thakur, and Shivam Dube have been called up forĀ India's ongoing three-match T20I series against Bangladesh.Ā  By the time Shaw becomes eligible to play again, Mumbai will have played six of their seven group games.Ā
