According to a report on Mumbai Mirror, former Indian leg-spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan is the front-runner for the post of Indian chief selector with MSK set for a move into the commentary box. Ashish Nehra, Arshad Ayub and Venkatesh Prasad are the other contenders for the selectors' position.

With MSK Prasad's tenure as Indian chief selector coming to an end soon, there have been reports that former Indian leg-spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan might take over the role. Sivaramakrishnan has been one of the most reputed names in Indian cricketing fraternity for his commentary and despite not having an illustrious cricket career, his guidance has been highly sought on the Tamil Nadu cricketing circuit.

Mumbai Mirror reported that in the next BCCI annual general meeting (AGM) set to be held on December 1, the board will select a new Selection committee and a new Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC). While Sivaramakrishnan's names are at the top of the list for the Chief selector role, Ashish Nehra from North, Deep Dasgupta and Rohan Gavaskar from East are also in the running for the post.

Apart from the trio, Arshad Ayub and Venkatesh Prasad from South Zone, Hyderabad, and Karnataka respectively are reported to be the names for the selector role while Gyanendra Pandey might sneak in at the last moment. With MSK Prasad set to secure a mouth-watering Telugu commentary deal and will be starting his new job makes it clear that Prasad is not interested in a new deal.
