Cricket West Indies (CWI) has handed out Guyana pacer Ronsford Beaton a suspension from bowling, with immediate effect, after his action was deemed illegal. The 27-year-old fast bowler, who has featured in two ODIs for West Indies, both in December 2017, will now undergo remedial work.

The right-arm fast-medium bowler was reported during the List-A match between Guyana and the United States last Monday — November 11 — in the Super50 Cup. Following the report, an independent assessor at Loughborough University — an ICC accredited testing centre for suspect bowling actions — found Beaton's action to be in breach of the permitted 15 degrees under the playing regulations. He will now undergo remedial work under the supervision of the franchise, after which he can apply for a reexamination.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Beaton has been suspended over a suspect action. The pacer was reported — and later suspended — after only his second ODI appearance against New Zealand in December 2017 after failing an independent assessment of his action. However, he managed to successfully remodel his action in the months that followed and was cleared to bowl again by the end of August 2018. The 27-year-old has 156 in 119 appearances at the domestic level.
