Bangladesh Cricket Board has urged the BCCI to allow MS Dhoni to represent the Asia XI in 2 T20Is to be played between the Asia XI and the World XI in March next year. Other players in this list are Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and the games will likely take place on March 18 and March 21.

The BCB is proposing to invite seven Indian players to feature for the Asia XI against the World XI which will be a two-match T20I series to be held in March 2020. Big names among this list are MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma and BCB will need BCCI's permission to grant these players to play for Asia XI. MS Dhoni has not played ever since India's semifinal loss to New Zealand in the World Cup and was recently seen practising at the JSCA Stadium in his hometown Ranchi.

With Rishabh Pant being preferred for the ODI and T20 series post-the World Cup, clouds are looming over Dhoni's retirement from white-ball cricket as well. But if BCCI gives permission, MS Dhoni will feature on the international stage again, this time for Asia XI. Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Ravindra Jadeja are the other players that the BCB is interested in seeing play for the Aisa XI.

"Yes, Bangladesh is scheduled to host two T20 Internationals between Asia XI and Rest of the World. We are in touch with BCCI and other cricket boards of the Asian region to allow their players to be part of these two games," BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury was quoted as saying in the report.

Dhoni had last represented Asia XI in 2007 in an ODI series against Africa XI where Asia XI won the series 3-0 and he had smashed a brilliant 97-ball 139 in one of the games. Although he has been quiet over his retirement plans, viewers will be thrilled to watch Dhoni on the international stage again after a long time.
