MS Dhoni’s retirement has been much of the talking point since India’s exit from the 2019 Cricket World Cup, with multiple reports suggesting that the veteran is waiting before announcing his retirement. However, the former Indian skipper quashed the reports of his immediate retirement.

Having appeared last in the World Cup 2019, Dhoni’s future has been under the clouds with chief selector MSK Prasad saying that the squad has moved on from the two-time World Cup-winning captain. However, Ravi Shastri hinted that Dhoni could make a comeback into the national team for the T20 World Cup next year if he performed well in the next edition of the IPL.  MS Dhoni has requested the media to not ask about his future till January, after wide-spread speculations of his retirement.

Dhoni’s responded to the media, who asked him about his future, saying “January tak mat poocho (Do not ask till January),” Dhoni said in the event according to The Hindu.

In an interaction with the media, after launching the special edition of Paneria, a luxury brand watch that he endorses, he spoke about some of the special moments in his Indian career.

“There are two incidents I would like to mention over here. After the 2007 (T20) World Cup, we came back to India and had an open bus trip and we were standing at the Marine Drive (in Mumbai). It was jam-packed all around and people had come out of their cars. So, I felt good after seeing the smile on everyone’s face.

"Because, there could have been so many people in the crowd, who might have missed their flights, perhaps they were going important work or at some office. The kind of reception we got, the entire Marine Drive was full from one end to other,” added the 38-year-old.
