The Board of Control for Cricket in India is all set to honour the physically challenged Indian cricketers with cash awards for their triumph in the inaugural T20 Physical Disability World Cricket Series. India edged past England by 36 runs in the final in Worcester to win the coveted trophy.

The Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) on Tuesday decided to sanctioned Rs. 3 lakhs for each player and Rs. 2 lakhs for each support staff of the Indian team for their heroics in the T20 Physical Disability World Cricket Series.

"It is our responsibility to look after the cricketers and this will encourage the cricketers to do better in the future," said one of the CoA members to the Sportstar.

India defeated England by 36 runs in the final of the showpiece event in Worcester back in August to lift trophy.

Former Indian women’s cricketer Diana Edulji had previously hinted in an event in Mumbai that the CoA is looking more at the ‘angle of player benefits.’

"The players have to only concentrate on performing on the ground and everything else is being looked after and we are seeing to it that these policy matters are framed in our constitution so that they cannot be changed after we hand over the reigns (on October 23)," said Edulji back then.
