Veteran Indian batsman VVS Laxman praised Virat Kohli for his ability to find gaps on a consistent basis and run quick 1’s and 2’s which is a testimony to his supreme fitness. Kohli is now the only Indian batsman to score seven double hundreds, going past Sachin and Sehwag who had six each.

Virat Kohli scored a career-best 254 against South Africa on day two of the second test in Pune. The South African bowlers seemed helpless in front of his absolute batting masterclass and legendary Indian batsman VVS Laxman praised Kohli by saying that at such times one needs to be mentally strong and that it's about the battle one fights in his own mind to go on and score big.

"For a player like Kohli, batting at this level is like batting against your thought process and not against the bowlers," Laxman said in a segment of Cricket Live on Star Sports.

Laxman spoke about how Kohli has the ability to go on even in tough conditions with super concentration to put his team in pole position to win matches. He elaborated on the fact that the risk-taking shots that Kohli plays are very very less and how his presence gives team India an added surety that things are under control.

"I'm really impressed with his precise footwork and effective shot selection. It's amazing how he balances his stance, how he goes forward and plays the ball through the offside. He has the gift of noticing the gaps which puts pressure on the opposition captain and bowlers. He definitely had a different level of concentration today," he added.
