Wriddhiman Saha has revealed that all the Indian fast bowlers provide him good practice bowling at him with the moving ball. After a long injury-break, Saha has returned to take over as the No.1 Test wicket-keeper in style with a convincing performance in the second Test against South Africa.

He may have had a quiet outing in his comeback match in Vizag, but Saha roared into action with some excellent glove-work on a lively pitch in Pune. Perhaps the best evidence came in the second innings when he flew one-handed to grab a ball almost certainly heading to the boundary down the leg-side to dismiss Theunis de Bruyn. The 34-year-old — dubbed the world’s best wicket-keeper by his captain Virat Kohli and India’s head coach Ravi Shastri — credited some of his success to the practice Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma, and Mohammad Shami gives him.

“Actually prep-wise, Umesh, Ishant and Shami bowl at me, and we practice that way, they give me some really good practice with the moving ball,” Saha said after the match, reported Cricbuzz.

“Our trainers help us out with stretches, ice-baths, and we are trained for the match-day really well, so credit to them for my fitness as well as my wicketkeeping performance,” Saha added.

Heading into the final Test at Ranchi, Saha will look to weigh in with a solid batting performance as well, to solidify his position in the team for the foreseeable future.
