It seems like the Afghanistan Cricket Board has devised a new policy ahead of their limited over series against West Indies as they made as many as five changes to the squad that played the T20 tri-series. Shafiqullah Shafiq and Dawlat Zadran have been dropped from the side to give the makeover.

With the T20 World Cup drawing closer day by day, the Afghanistan Cricket Board seem to have started their preparations for the same. They made as many as five changes to the team which played the T20 tri-series in Bangladesh and have included young cricketers who excelled in the domestic tournament.

The idea behind it seems quite clear, give the youngsters a go before the board sits down to pick the final squad for the World Cup. Shafiqullah Shafiq, Dawlat Zadran, Shahidullah Kamal, Fazal Niazai and Najeeb Tarakai are the five players who have been dropped to make way for domestic performers.

Ibrahim Zadran, who has been the top performer for Amo Sharks in the Shpageeza Cricket League recently, has been included for the first time in limited-overs series along with spin-bowling all-rounder Javed Ahmadi gets a recall into the T20I squad on the back numerous match-winning performances for Band-e-Amir dragons in the domestic T20 league.

While Yahmin Ahmadzai is back in the T20 side after a gap of three years owing to his superb performance in the longest format of the game, Afzar Zazai, the wicketkeeper batsman has been named as back up keeper to Ikram Ali Khil. The side will be led by prodigy leggie Rashid Khan in both the formats in the series which will commence from November 5 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun.
