Investigations of bookie's approach to Shakib during IPL 2018 was handled by ICC, discloses BCCI ACU

BCCI's Anti-Corruption Unit head Ajit Singh said that investigations into Shakib Al Hasan’s breach of anti-corruption code during an IPL game last year was handled by the International Cricket Council. There was an alleged approach made by Indian bookie Deepak Aggarwal during the 2018 IPL.
Bangladesh's Test and T20I captain Shakib Al Hasan has been banned by the ICC from all cricket for two years, with one year of that sentence suspended, after he accepted three charges of breaching the ICC anti-corruption code. His offences related to two tournaments in 2018: an ODI tri-series in January, also involving Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, and one match in the IPL, where he was a player with Sunrisers Hyderabad.
When BCCI's ACU head Ajit Singh was asked about the corrupt charges against Shakib during the IPL, Singh revealed that investigations into Shakib Al Hasan’s breach of anti-corruption code during a game during last year’s Indian Premier League was handled by the International Cricket Council itself.
“That particular IPL season we are referring to, the anti-corruption matters were handled by the ICC. So the complete investigation was carried out by the ICC. The BCCI has no role in it. We provided the necessary inputs from our end but the entire investigation was carried out by the ICC ACU,” Singh, a former DGP of Rajasthan, was quoted as saying by PTI.
An alleged Indian bookie Deepak Aggarwal sought inside information from Shakib in multiple instances through WhatsApp, and the doubts further increased after Shakib ended up deleting those messages from his phone.
“These messages on April 26, 2018 included a number of deleted messages. He confirmed that these deleted messages contained requests from Mr Aggarwal for Inside Information,” the ICC stated.
