The King is back to where he belongs, just within one month of his comeback to his favourite format as Steve Smith reclaimed the No.1 spot in the ICC Test rankings. The previous holder of the position, Virat Kohli has dropped one spot to No.2, while Kane Williamson remains on No.3 undisturbed.

The best Test batsman that the world has seen in decades, Steve Smith has reclaimed what belongs to him- the No. 1 spot in the ICC Test rankings. Indian captain Virat Kohli, who was at the top before Smith, dropped down the list due to a couple of poor scores against the West Indies in the recently-concluded two-match series. Kohli scored a couple of half-centuries in it but it was followed by two poor scores which also included a golden duck.

Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane is back in form and has been rewarded with four positions up to No.7 for his unbeaten half-century in Sabina Park. India's new recruit, Hanuma Vihari, who hit his maiden double century in the same match, has jumped up 40 places to secure the No. 30 spot.

Smith, who embarked his Test comeback with twin hundreds in the first Ashes Test, was ruled out of the third Ashes test after he was diagnosed with a concussion after he was hit on his neck in the second match at Lord's. But in what comes as good news for Australia, their best batsman will be back for the 4th Test, that commences on September 4 at Old Trafford in Manchester.
