Indian all-rounder Shivam Dube has stated that his experience in the IPL has helped him mould himself into a better player. After impressing in the Mumbai T20 league and Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy, Dube was snapped up by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a sum of Rs 5 Crore in the auction.

The last 12 months have been bittersweet for Shivam Dube. After being picked in the IPL auction by RCB and having gotten a chance to play alongside the likes of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, Dube had a year to forget as he failed to impress with both bat and ball, perhaps succumbing to the weight of the expectations. However, the all-rounder believes that he has learnt a lot from his stint in the IPL, despite it not yielding the results he expected. He also spoke highly of Rahul Dravid, who he spent time with him in the 'A' tours.

“I am working hard every day. Learning is the main thing to become a good player. Though I had a poor IPL, I learned a lot practising with international players. Spending time with Rahul during the ‘A’ tours was also a great experience for me,” Dube told Sportstar.

“Being an all-rounder is a difficult job. But it is also an honour to be one and I am enjoying it. I have strength and I back myself to be successful,” he added.

Dube, who had an extremely impressive outing in the unofficial ODI series against South Africa 'A' where he averaged an incredible 155 with the bat, insisted that his focus is now on improving his bowling. He also added that he will be working on both his fitness and mental toughness.

"I know I haven’t taken many wickets. But I need to improve on both my batting and bowling. I am working on certain aspects of my game like hitting the ball harder. I am also working to improve my fitness and also on the mental aspect of my game as well,” he concluded.
