The English team management have named an unchanged 13-man squad for the fifth and final Ashes Test at The Oval. Misfiring batsmen Jason Roy, Joe Denly and Jos Buttler have all been given another opportunity, while Craig Overton and Jack Leach also retain their spots despite poor returns.

In a move which has thrown everyone by surprise, England have decided to go with an unchanged squad for the fifth Test at The Oval in an attempt to square the series and walk away with pride. After failing to win an Ashes series at home for the first time since 2001, wholesale changes were expected within the team with a lot of players visibly struggling, but the team management have shown faith and have given another shot at redemption to the out-of-form players.

Jason Roy, Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow and Joe Denly, all of who have averaged below 26 in this series so far, have been handed a lifeline while Jack Leach and Craig Overton, who almost pulled off an improbable draw by batting for almost an hour at Old Trafford, have also been retained. However, due to an injury, Ben Stokes is all set to be fielded as a specialist batsman, in which case one of Sam Curran or Chris Woakes is expected to come into the side at the expense of one of the batters.

Having already lost out on the urn, the English team will be playing for pride and ICC World Test Championship points. The fifth and the final Test at The Oval will commence on September 12.
