According to reports by Mumbai Mirror, Ravi Shastri will get a major boost in his already high salary after having been offered a contract extension to continue as the Indian cricket team coach for another term. The support staff is expected to get similar raises as per their new contracts.

Ravi Shastri is expected to get a salary increment in his new contract with the BCCI after having been retained as the head coach until after the ICC World T20 2021. He was receiving a reported sum of eight crore rupees annually in the first stint but an increment of upto 20 percent can see his earnings go up to Rs. 10 crore per year, if the reports from the Mumbai Mirror are to be believed, as reported by Sportstar.

Support staff personnel will also receive additional monetary benefits in all likelihood. Bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar are expected to get a sum of somewhere around Rs. 3.5 crore, while the batting coach Vikram Rathour, who replaced Sanjay Bangar, will be receiving upto three crore rupees.

The 57-year old recently elucidated upon his reasons for continuing in the role.

“The reason why I came in here is the belief I had in this team, the belief that they could leave a legacy which very few teams have left behind which other teams going down will try and emulate. Next two years is to see the smooth transition happening. You will get a lot of youngsters coming -- in both white-ball setup and Tests. You need to identify another three-four bowlers to add to the pool by the end of our tenure. My endeavour by the end of this tenure would be to leave the team in a happier space so that they can set a legacy in the time to come,” Shastri had told bcci.tv.
