India is known for doing big things in cricket, be it the fans or the quality of players and now the nation is just one step away from donning the accolade of the largest cricket stadium in the world. According to latest reports, ninety percent of the construction work has been completed already.

The proud holder of the world's largest cricket stadium, the Melbourne Cricket ground is soon going to be overhauled by the new Motera stadium, the construction work of which is going on at an incredible pace and is expected to be fully completed by January 2020.

The completion of the underway construction is just one step away and the revamped cricket stadium in Motera will only be the biggest cricket stadium in the world, but it will also sport one with the best facilities in the world. 

While the MCG has an incredible seating capacity of 95,000(approx.), this new Indian stadium will accommodate up to 1,10,000 people at once, a sheer record-breaker. 

What connects the MCG to the Motera stadium- being built by the Gujarat Cricket Association- is the principal architect of both stadiums which is an American global company named Populous. 

The estimated cost of the stadium is Rs 700 crore and it was embarked to fulfil Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of having the world's largest stadium in his own state. GCA president Amit Shah, senior vice-president Parimal Nathwani and joint secretary Jay Shah are closely monitoring all developments related to the project.

Speaking of facilities, the stadium will sport 75 Air-conditioned corporate boxes with food Courts and hospitality area in each stand, a cricket academy, indoor practice pitches, pavilions and hi-tech media box and field of play LED lights for the first time in India, parking for 3000 cars and 10,000 two-wheelers, a clubhouse with 55 rooms. Apart from this, to help with commute there will be metro Connectivity with the stadium. It will also facilitate other sports like football, hockey, basketball, kabaddi, boxing, lawn tennis, running track, etc.
