Rishabh Pant's childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma has stated that he is really worried for Rishabh Pant because of the way he's batting, terming his dismissals as 'alarming'. Rajkumar also added that Pant needs to be selective with his shot selection and start delivering in his favorite format, T20s.

Cricket is a funny game and it's indeed bewildering how quickly the tables can turn. It was not long ago that Rishabh Pant found himself being whole-heartedly backed by the team management for being MS Dhoni's long term successor, and now, a month later, the 21-year-old finds himself under immense pressure where he has to deliver to keep his place in the team intact.

While several cricketers and experts alike have voiced their opinion, one person who feels that the Delhi boy needs to start firing in all cylinders is his childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma, who has stated that it's high time for Pant to start delivering and repay the faith that the selectors have shown in him.

"It’s high time, he should be careful, T20 is his favourite format and he is not able to perform. He has quality strokes, he is an impact player and a match-winner too but unfortunately, he is not delivering," Rajkumar told ANI, reported Times of India.

With coach Ravi Shastri and batting coach Vikram Rathour publicly calling out Pant for his rash shot selection, Rajkumar fears the worst for the youngster and has stated that Pant should take the criticism seriously.

"I am really worried for Rishabh Pant because the way he is playing is really alarming and the kind of comments are coming especially from Ravi Shastri and batting coach Vikram Rathour is a matter of concern," the coach said.

With India comprehensively winning the 2nd T20I in Mohali, Rajkumar believes that there'll be zero chance for South Africa to bounce back in the third, given the strength and talent India possess. He also lauded the consistency of the Indian team and hailed it as the best traveling team in the world, while also showering praise on skipper Virat Kohli for his selfless cricket.

"The Indian team has given a consistent performance and I have not seen team India being so consistent in the past 20 years. I second Ravi Shastri's statement that this team is the best travelling team.

"The way team India is playing, I don't think there is any chance for South Africa to bounce back. South Africa is inexperienced...India will convincingly win the third T20I," he said.

"99 percent of the time he doesn't know what he has achieved in terms of records. I always inform him about his records, he plays selfless cricket and his stats tell that how big a player he is," he signed off.
