From Glenn Phillips' super-human effort behind the stumps to a beer-juggling crowd catch, the CPL has so far provided us with some exuberant moments on the field. But in what was probably the catch of the tournament, Jonathan Carter plucked a one-hander out of nowhere to steal headlines on Friday.

For lovers of T20 cricket around the world, the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is a festival and a gala, for it provides moments of madness and magic like no other competition in cricket,  especially with an added Caribbean spice to it. From more than 480 runs being scored in a single match to the second-highest T20 total of all time being recorded, the 2019 edition of the CPL has already given us moments to cherish with just 17 matches in the season and one can bet that there's a lot more to come in the matches to follow.

But in the game between St Lucia Zouks and Barbados Tridents on Friday, we arguably witnessed the best moment of the season thus far, with Jonathan Carter being at the heart of it. After having scored 172 batting first thanks to Carter's quickfire 30, the Tridents set the Zouks a hefty target of 173 and in response, the Zouks got to a disastrous start, losing their first four wickets for just 52 runs.

However, all hope was not yet lost, as with Darren Sammy and Colin de Grandhomme still at the crease, nothing seemed impossible to chase down. On the first ball of the eighth over, Raymon Reifer bowled a good length delivery that angled cross Sammy, which in all fairness, came to Sammy at just the perfect height, in and around his hips. But the former West Indian skipper, who looked like he was in two minds, checked his shot at the very last moment and tried to guide it towards third man in the very last moment.

But the ball after hitting the top of the bat ballooned up and hung in the air for a while, though for the most part looked like it was going to land safe. However, Carter, fielding at backward point, then pulled off an extraordinary full-stretch dive to his left to grab the ball out of thin air, holding on to it with his fingertips. He took off after taking that blinder and soon his teammates followed him, mobbing him to acknowledge the absurdity of his catch.

The catch left Sammy in shock and all he could do was give a long and hard stare before walking off to the pavilion. Carters' efforts eventually helped the Tridents win the match by a whopping 71 runs and he was named the Man of the Match for his efforts.
