Reports | Financial negotiations with KXIP halt Ravichandran Ashwinâs transfer to DC
According to a Mumbai Mirror report, Ravichandran Ashwinâs transfer to the Delhi Capitals has received a minor setback as the spin bowler has been unable to negotiate terms with his current franchise. The move has been referenced by both the teams and for long has been on the brink of going through.
In their continuous bid to attain glory and win a maiden IPL title, Delhi Capitals had targeted Ravichandran Ashwin as a figure that could strengthen their squad and lead them to the same. However, the player has been unable to find common ground with his parent club if a Mumbai Mirror report is to be believed.Â
The skilled spinner had been bought in the auction by the Preity Zinta owned franchise for a grand amount of Rs 7.6 crore, but the fee of the transfer is undisclosed. However, according to IPL norms, the buying franchise will have to ensure the playerâs salary remains the same apart or increases apart from paying a transfer fees, while the player can also demand as much as half of the transfer fees for himself. Ashwin has reportedly failed to find common ground with Kings XI Punjab as a percentage of the same, even though the CEO has denied such claims.
"I can say there is no such issue and the sale would happen only when the board of the franchise gives the go-ahead. Ashwin was in the UK for county games till recently and our board has not met yet," KXIP CEO Satish Menon was quoted as saying by Times Now.
In the past, Ashwin has represented the Rising Pune Supergiants and Chennai Super Kings apart from Punjab, for whom he has played 139 matches in a span of 10 years. He has 125 wickets to his name at an average of approximately 26.5. Renowned for his economic bowling with one of 6.79, the all-rounder with 222 international caps to his name will be looking forward to the deal being finalized soon.
