Cricket Australia has announced that former Australia wicket-keeper Graham Manou is set to take over from Greg Chappell as the new national talent manager. Chappell, who was appointed by the national cricket board in 2011, will be retiring at the end of this month after nine years of service.

After having played 87 Tests and 74 ODIs for his country, Chappell has served years behind the scenes in talent hunting across the nation and on the selection panel. After joining the panel on an interim basis in November 2016, his position was made permanent and for nearly three years has held a combined role as national talent manager and selector.

"Greg has had a profound and positive impact on cricket for generations. Greg was one of the finest players in the history of international cricket. Additionally, as a captain, coach, selector, and mentor, Greg has been a true pioneer and innovator," the Kevin Roberts, Cricket Australia chief executive, was quoted saying by the ICC official website.

Meanwhile, Manou, who has featured in one Test and four ODIs for Australia, has been serving as Australia's national pathway manager for the last three years. Although he will take over from Chappell from the start of October, Manou will continue to hold his previous role.

It is understood that Cricket Australia will now look for a replacement national selector which will be announced in due course of time.
